English-speaking webmasters noticed testing of the “also in the news” block in the “Top news” section of a Google search, reports SearchEngines.
Search Engine Roundtable provides a screenshot of the update tweeted by one of the webmasters.
The block contains several older news, published both minutes and hours ago, and a few days ago. It looks like the search engine is trying to bring context to the top news to enable users to return to the origins of the news stories.
NIX Solutions notes that in early July, Google tested the “People also search” block to the right of the search results.
