NIXsolutions: Reddit Enhances Search with AI-Powered Features

Reddit is preparing to begin testing an AI-powered search feature that will offer “content summaries and recommendations” on the search results page, CEO Steve Huffman announced during an investor call following the release of the company’s quarterly report. This integration of AI into the search function aims to help users “dive deeper” into content and discover new Reddit communities. The experiment will commence this year, utilizing both the platform’s own technologies and third-party solutions.

Expanding Global Reach

AI technologies have become a significant topic in conversations with investors and analysts. Huffman spoke about the quality of machine translation on Reddit, noting that the platform is actively growing its community of users from France. The translation function into German, Spanish, and Portuguese is currently being expanded. Reddit has already presented its second quarterly report since going public, with revenue for the second quarter amounting to $281.2 million, higher than the Wall Street analysts’ expected $253.8 million. The number of weekly active users also increased by 57% compared to a year earlier, reaching 342.3 million, adds NIXsolutions.

Partnership Announcements

Something similar was expected to appear soon: in May, the company announced a partnership with OpenAI. The AI developer allowed the platform to use its large language models and helped delegate some moderation powers, in exchange for the right to use Reddit materials to train its systems. The platform also entered into a similar agreement with Google earlier this year. We’ll keep you updated on any further developments in this regard.
