The popular Opera browser has received a major update called Opera One R2. Built on the Chromium engine, it now offers new features previously available only to developers. The publisher calls it the best Opera version ever.
AI Integration and Animated Themes
Opera One R2 introduces Aria AI, the browser’s chatbot with artificial intelligence. This version integrates Google’s Imagen 2 image generator, allowing users to create images from text prompts or samples. Aria can also analyze and describe images provided by users.
Another highlight is the introduction of animated themes with background music. These dynamic visuals are powered by the computer’s integrated or discrete video card. The update offers three themes:
- Classic: Users can select their preferred color for the browser’s appearance.
- Aurora: Inspired by the northern lights, this theme uses neon-green shades.
- Midsommar: Named after the Scandinavian winter solstice celebration, this theme includes pastel shades of pink, blue, and lilac, along with background music.
Enhanced User Experience Features
For multitaskers, Opera One R2 introduces a split-screen function, enabling users to view two web pages side by side in a single window—much more convenient than managing multiple windows. The new Tab Traces feature displays the last five tabs visited but activates only when more than 30 tabs are open, a frequent scenario nowadays. NIXsolutions adds that the “tab islands” feature lets users group tabs, reducing visual clutter.
Media and Ad Blocker Improvements
Opera One R2 includes a pop-up media player for background music and videos. It can stay on top of other windows or run invisibly while you work or study. Unlike Google Chrome, Opera continues to support ad blockers. The browser’s built-in ad blocker works seamlessly, and support for the V2 manifest ensures users can install classic extensions like uBlock Origin and AdBlock.
We’ll keep you updated as more features roll out in future versions of Opera One.
