NIX Solutions: Firefox Nightly Got ChatGPT and Gemini

Mozilla has introduced a full suite of popular chatbots to the experimental version of its Firefox Nightly browser. Integrating AI assistants into the browser will enable users to analyze and summarize information found on the Internet. Starting this week, users will be able to add ChatGPT, Google Gemini, HuggingChat, and other well-known chatbots to their sidebar.

How to Install and Use AI Chatbots in Firefox Nightly

To test these chatbots in Firefox, you need to install the experimental version of the Nightly browser, which is an unstable platform for testing and development. After installing Nightly, follow these steps to activate and use the chatbots:

  1. Go to “Settings” – “Nightly Experiments” and activate the “AI Chatbot Integration” option.
  2. Select the bot you wish to use.
  3. To permanently place it on the panel, right-click on the top bar of the browser and select “Customize toolbar”.
  4. Drag the chatbot icon to the top panel.

Mozilla notes that all chatbot models are under development and have both strengths and weaknesses. None of them is perfect, and each performs some tasks better and others worse. The use of chatbots is completely optional and is not built into the core functionality of Firefox.

Following Industry Trends

Mozilla is following a trend set by other browser developers who are introducing chatbots into their products, notes NIX Solutions. For example, Microsoft and Google have already introduced Copilot and Gemini for Edge and Chrome, respectively. Opera and DuckDuckGo have also started experimenting with AI in their browsers. Mozilla will continue testing the Nightly version before introducing this feature into the beta version and the official release of Firefox. We’ll keep you updated on further developments.
