NIXSolutions: Firefox 115 ESR Support Extended Again

Mozilla released the latest build of the Firefox browser for older versions of Windows back in 2023. Initially, it was expected to be supported for no more than a year. However, the company has once again postponed the end of support for users running Windows 7 and its successor.

Support Extended Until 2025

According to the official release calendar, Firefox 115 ESR will continue to receive updates until September 2025. Additionally, Mozilla representatives stated that this decision might be reviewed again in August. There is a possibility that another announcement regarding an extension of browser support will be made at that time, adds NIXSolutions.

Firefox Remains Popular on Older Systems

Mozilla acknowledged that many users on Windows 7 and 8.1 still prefer Firefox. This is partly due to Google’s decision to stop updating Chrome on these older platforms, making Firefox a more viable option for those who have not upgraded their operating systems.

For now, support remains in place, and we’ll keep you updated on any further changes.
