Opera has introduced a new browser, Opera Neon, designed to integrate artificial intelligence into everyday online activities. The company presented Neon as a next-generation browser capable of automating a wide range of tasks based on user input.
During the announcement, Opera revealed that Neon will not only help users make purchases and fill out forms but will also be capable of creating games, websites, and program code. These features are driven by user text commands, allowing for a more interactive and productive browsing experience.
Currently, the project is in the pre-registration stage. Once officially launched, users will need a subscription to access Neon’s features. Opera has not yet disclosed the cost of this subscription, but we’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
New Sidebar Buttons: Chat, Do, and Make
The core innovation of Neon lies in three new sidebar buttons: Chat, Do, and Make.
-
Chat functions as an integrated chatbot that helps users search for information, navigate websites, and get answers to general queries.
-
Do is powered by the Browser Operator AI agent. This feature can perform actions such as booking travel and filling out forms—all directly within the browser, offering local automation.
-
Make stands out as the most unique of the three. It enables users to generate websites, games, reports, and even code snippets based on natural language commands. These tasks are processed via a virtual cloud-based machine, allowing workflows to continue even if the user goes offline.
AI Integration Trends and Industry Outlook
Opera isn’t alone in pursuing AI integration within browsers, adds NIX Solutions. In December, The Browser Company announced its own AI-powered browser with task-performing agents, and Google is already experimenting with similar technologies in its products.
While these developments signal a shift in how users might interact with browsers in the near future, experts caution that AI systems often underperform compared to their promotional claims. Nevertheless, the move toward embedded AI functionality represents a significant step forward in browser evolution.
Opera Neon is still in its early phase, but with continued development, it may redefine how browsers serve as productivity tools. We’ll keep you updated as more integrations become available.
