NIX Solutions: DuckDuckGo Expands AI Search Features

DuckDuckGo has officially rolled out its AI-powered search tools, which now provide answers sourced from across the web. Initially introduced as DuckAssist in 2023, this feature was limited to Wikipedia-based results. However, with the beta phase now over, AI-generated answers will automatically appear in response to relevant queries. Additionally, DuckDuckGo is expanding its AI search capabilities into web searches and a chatbot, according to The Verge.

Customizable AI Search and Chatbot Features

Users can control how often they see AI-generated answers, even disabling them entirely if preferred. When set to “frequent,” these answers will still only appear about 20% of the time, though DuckDuckGo plans to increase this rate over time.

Some AI-powered answers allow follow-up questions, redirecting users to a conversation with the Duck.ai chatbot. No account is required to use it, and users can choose between models such as GPT-4o mini, o3-mini, Llama 3.3, Mistral Small 3, and Claude 3 Haiku. Importantly, DuckDuckGo ensures anonymous interaction by hiding IP addresses and maintaining agreements with AI providers to prevent user data from being used for training, notes NIX Solutions.

Privacy-Focused AI Search Continues to Evolve

With these updates, DuckDuckGo continues its commitment to private, AI-enhanced search experiences. We’ll keep you updated on further improvements as the company refines and expands its AI tools.
